Silkroad Film Festival 2024

Poster event identity
The Silk Road Film Festival (SRFF) celebrates cinema, culture, and art by presenting films from countries that were once part of the ancient Silk Road trade routes. The festival focuses particularly on Asian, Arab, Persian, Middle Eastern, African, Mediterranean, and European cinema, highlighting the rich diversity and interconnectedness of these regions.
My poster design draws inspiration from this spirit of cultural exchange. The central visual element is a ball of wool reimagined as a film reel — a metaphor for cinema’s ability to unroll and connect stories from different parts of the world. Each thread represents an individual narrative, contributing to a larger tapestry that reflects the diversity of cultures linked by the Silk Road.
The image of the unwinding thread also suggests a journey, revealing new connections and shared experiences as it unfolds — much like the festival itself. I translated this concept into an original illustration, combining contemporary graphic elements and a modern color palette to create a design that feels fresh, dynamic, and meaningful.
