For this project, I created the visual identity for the album of Camel Toy, a band based in Guimarães. The concept was inspired by the band’s name and by the playful, mechanical nature suggested by the word toy. I started by working with sequences of camels in motion, creating a collage where each camel is illustrated with a small crank handle — a detail referencing old wind-up toys. The cover design depicts a kind of vintage-style camel race, reminiscent of traditional fairground attractions. Each camel is numbered, corresponding to a track on the album, reinforcing the connection between the visual and musical structure. To enhance the dynamic feel of the project, I applied the camel photograms not only on the CD label but also on the vinyl label. This was designed with the intention that, as the disc spins, the camel illustrations create a zoetrope-like effect, simulating motion and reinforcing the theme of movement and play. The colour palette and texture evoke a nostalgic, handmade aesthetic, complementing the band’s identity and the conceptual link between music, motion, and visual rhythm.
